Update....WAY overdue!!!

So my last update was 3 months ago! This post is way overdue, but here goes anyway. A lot has happened in three months- namely we found out the week of Thanksgiving that we were adding baby #3 to our family, and then last Thursday found out that little one is another boy!! We are thrilled! Ok, some frank honesty here, I was hoping for a little girl. Probably not surprising. BUT of course I am completely and totally in love already with this little boy! He was extremely active during our ultrasound- maybe that cinnamon roll I ate for breakfast? We don't have a name yet but we are taking suggestions, so feel free to throw some names out there! I am excited about adding another little one to our family-a little overwhelmed at that thought as well, but don't have to worry about that until July! We are praying that these 3 Turner boys will love the Lord with all their hearts, minds, souls, and strength, and grow to treasure the gospel greatly.

Now, for some photos! Since I have to play so much catch up, here are just a few from the past few months...a glimpse into our daily life.

In this one, we were trying to get a Christmas card photo- the camera was a a little high, but, you get the idea. By the way, if you are thinking that we must have forgotten you on our Christmas card list- no worries! We never sent any out. I was so mad at myself but I will blame it on 1st trimester sickness/fatigue. Hopefully next year we will get them out!

Colin riding his "motorcycle" he got for Christmas.

The boys playing a game on my phone.

Robson gets bored with the game and decides to see if Colin will notice if he puts something in his hair. Nope. Colin is WAY too into the game to care.
Such a sweet little moment between brothers! They are always making each other laugh.

The other week we went for the morning to visit and play with Ashley and Anna- the little girls I kept for a while. They are so special to me. They are getting so big and we had a lot of fun! I think Ashley and Colin think they are brother and sister! After all, they were together 5 days a week from the time Colin was 7 weeks until almost 3!

Well that is about it for now.....I am going to TRY to update the blog much more often!

Pumpkin Fun

A little late on this one, but wanted to post it anyway! Here are some fun we had painting pumpkins and dressing up. I don't have any great pictures of them dressed up because it was so hot that afternoon and we didn't do much because I had to work that night and Chris had a major headache. Robson was a dragon (that Colin was 2 years ago) and Colin was Spiderman. Robson's was way too hot to keep on him for very long, but it is super cute.

Please read this article

John Piper is fast becoming my favorite speaker. I get his articles and sermons in my inbox, all of which are awesome. This one today though is sobering and weighs heavy on my heart. It is an inescapable truth, though not one we like to talk about. If you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, please ask me about this, (you can e-mail me at lturner7@gmail.com) or someone that you know does know God!! For those of us who do know Jesus, may the Lord strengthen us to be bold and courageous in sharing the gospel with a lost and dying world.

A small victory

So for those who don't know, my boys are picky eaters. I thought I had to luck out with the second one, but not so much. Number 2 is MORE picky than number 1. Anyway, last night at dinner, we did have a small victory in this area- Colin at a bowl full of spinach salad!! I was trying not to make a big deal about it or he would think, "hmmm...this is something mommy wants me to eat.....let me not eat it". But I was like really surprised. So I will try to remember this whenever I get stressed that they aren't eating from all the food groups! (namely the vegetable one)

On a side note, Colin has been mentioning a friend from the YMCA named Brenna. He tells us,"I chased Brenna today on the playground". Then hides his face in his hands out of embarrassment. So I wanted to see who this little girl is- Chris already saw her last week at the Y when he took the boys. So today I asked one of the teachers which one was Brenna. And she laughed and smiled so big because when Brenna's daddy came in to drop her off today, he asked which boy was Colin! It appears that both Brenna and Colin have been talking about the other at home. Too funny.

Belle, Jeremy, Bob & Larry

We are keeping Kim & Zack's dog Belle this week while they are out of town and I am not so sure that the boys are gonna like her going back home when she has to leave! Robson walks around pointing at her and saying, "Puppy", and Colin likes her but thinks she stinks. :) He was watching something on TV yesterday morning and he was just sitting there holding his nose. When I asked him why, he said, "Well...Belle stinks." He has some kind of super-sniffer nose or something. He gets that from Chris.

So Belle came Friday night and also that same night Chris and I went to see Jeremy Camp at the State Fair. My mom came and kept the boys so we could go. They LOVE when GiGi comes. We met a friend from work and her husband there at the concert. This was the 2nd time we have seen Jeremy in concert. The first time was in 2004 the week before we got engaged. He does a really good concert- entertaining and good energy and very worshipful. Here is one of us on the tram from RBC to fairgrounds, and one of the concert that isn't too great, but you get the idea:

The big event for the day on Saturday was going to see Bob & Larry at LifeWay in Cary. The boys seemed to really enjoy meeting them. Colin kept wanting to know where their car was. :)

As we were on the way home from meeting Bob & Larry and eating lunch, I looked back and Robson was fast asleep in the back seat. I happened to snap the picture as he let out this cute little smile. Must have been a sweet dream. And I have to add one more in- it is out of order but I have to show you this. We went to Pei Wei and our boys aren't big fans of Asian cuisine like we are , so I brought food for them. But I looked over at Colin and he had picked up some chop sticks and was eating his fruit bar with them! Maybe one day we can win him over to try some Chinese!

Mighty Is The Power Of The Cross

So, it has been forever since I have posted on here- about 2 months! I am going to try really hard to get back into blogging!

As I was getting ready this morning (in peace thanks to Daddy and Dora the Explorer!) I had Pandora playing loud on the speakers- a little Chris Tomlin, a little Third Day, some Jeremy Camp, and a Chris Tomlin song came on that just reminded me of what is important, and of how beautiful our Savior is! It has been just over 10 years since he opened my eyes to the gospel. I was a 19 year old girl who was headed the wrong way, but desperately wanted to know God and His ways but didn't know how. I thought I was ok though- I thought, "surely I am a good person and I do believe in God. I even know how to answer when someone asks me if I am sure I will go to heaven when I die". But, there was a real separation there that I knew existed. I didn't know why though, or what to do about that. About that time I was off to ECU (Go Pirates!) and saw a sign-up sheet in my dorm for a Bible Study. I signed up as soon as I went and found a pen...my heart was ready. A sweet girl who is now a precious friend, Kim Edwards (now Morrisette) knocked on my door and said that she was leading that bible study and told me the place and time. I was there. It was there that Jesus made himself known to me for the first time. I heard the same things that I am sure someone had told me before but this time was different. I understood that because of sin in my life (which we all have) I was separated from God. I couldn't be good enough to "get into" heaven, and while it's great that I believed in God, that wasn't enough either. I had to rely fully on what Jesus did on the cross, and even more so 3 days later when he rose from the grave, and left an empty tomb. Trusting in what He did and who He is rather than who I am and what I had done, I committed then that I would live my life for Him. There is really no other option once you realize that without Him, there is no hope and no other way out of your sin. God did not have a Plan B because His Plan A was perfect. These past 10 years of walking with God are a testimony of His grace and His grip on my life. Thank you Lord that you don't give up on me. Thank you for your rich kindness and mercy towards me, and towards any who will confess your Name. You fill up my soul and make me alive.

The song I mentioned above is called Mighty Is The Power of the Cross. If you have never heard it, listen to it! Here are the lyrics:

What can take a dying man and raise him up to life again?
What can heal a wounded soul?
What can make us white as snow?
What can fill the emptiness?
What can mend our brokenness?
Brokenness

[Chorus:]
Mighty, awesome, wonderful
Is the holy cross
Where the Lamb laid down His life
To lift us from the fall
Mighty is the power of the cross

What restores our faith in God?
What reveals the Father's love?
What can lead the wayward home?
What can melt a heart of stone?
What can free the guilty ones
What can save and overcome?
Overcome

[Chorus]

It's a miracle to me [2x]
And It's still a mystery [2x]
It's a miracle to me
The power of God
For those who believe

Mighty, awesome, wonderful
Is the holy cross
Where the Lamb laid down His life
To lift us from the fall
Mighty is .......
Mighty is.......
Mighty is the power of the cross

Thank You for the cross [2x]
Love the cross [2x]
So Powerful......
What can take a dying man?
And raise him up to life again?

Worship You Jesus
By your wounds we are healed
By your wounds we are saved
Mighty is the power of the cross [2x]
Thank You Jesus for the Holy cross

I praise You, Lord Jesus for the cross! Thank you for inviting me into a relationship with you. May my life make MUCH of who you are.

Playing catch up!

This will be sort of a random post, but I just wanted to post a few photos from the summer. Colin went to the dentist for the first time a few weeks ago and was very good. I was nervous about this experience because at the pediatrician's office he didn't want to open his mouth wide, so I thought it would be a struggle to get him to cooperate. However, he really surprised me by being 100% compliant and doing exactly what the dentist and hygienist asked. I was very proud of him.

The sunglasses were provided by the dentist....we did not buy him any that look like this! :)

The very next day after Colin went to his first dentist appt., Robson got his first haircut! He did well too but just kinda squirmed and looked at the lady the whole time.

We have also tried to start memorizing a verse of the week together as a family. I wish I could say that we have been consistent, but we have skipped a few weeks. However, these are our three verses so far:

"Be kind and compassionate to one another..." Ephesians 4:32

"For You have been a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat." Isaiah 25:4

"The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love." Psalm 145:8

Maybe just for accountability- to keep us on top of it- I will post what verse we are working on each week. Colin starts Awana at our church in a few weeks, so I know they will teach him verses in there that maybe we can do as a whole family.

Not much else going on with us- I will try to be better about posting from now on, mostly just to keep track of things for myself for future reference since I don't have a scrapbook or baby book for them! Maybe that can be a future project.
